Sarah Monzon’s latest time slip novel “Freedom’s Kiss,” is the 3rd book in her Carrington Family series. Monzon tells the present day story of Olivia Arroyo, who finds herself working alongside Adam Carrington (a formal criminal defense attorney) at his food truck. Olivia and Adam find themselves a pillar of strength for each other as secrets in Olivia’s family history are revealed while Adam struggles to find his true purpose in life.

The historical storyline takes place in 1816 with Winnie and her family escaping from slavery in Georgia and joining up with Seminole Indians in Florida. They have to deal with the threats of being returned to slavery and the government’s attempts to force the Indians off of the land.

Another incredible time slip novel by Sarah Monzon! She did such a great job telling the story of people of color and included part of Florida’s history about the Seminole Indians that is not well known to most readers. I had never heard of the slaves heading south instead of north to escape slavery. The historical facts were so interesting to read. I love the Carrington Family! I can not decide which Carrington brother I like best. Sarah Monzon gave them each different characteristics and personalities, but made them all so irresistible! I can’t wait until the Carrington brothers’ younger sister Amber gets her own story!!

I love these characters. They feel so real. Worth the time and money. I will read this book and this series again!
Sarah Monzon is an accomplished and exceptional writer to be included with the likes of other fine authors of dual timeline stories like Kristy Cambron and Rachel Hauck.

Freedom's Kiss is Monzon's third story in this genre and I was amazed at her true to life and fact-based portrayal in the historical narrative of runaway slave Winnie and Seminole Indian Nokosi. Winnie's struggles to rise above the brutality of slavery and survive the wilds of Florida in the early 1800's, had me feeling her terror while hiding from trackers and wiping the sweat away from the sweltering humid climate. Nokosi is everything brave and noble to be found in a Seminole warrior, a protective leader that stirs Winnie's wounded heart. Their story evolved slowly and tenderly, providing some of the most touching and heart-stirring moments.

My favorite stories are those that are engaging and well told, but also those that bring to light a time and place in history I'm unfamiliar with. Freedom's Kiss captivated me with the background surrounding Negro Fort and runaway slaves being sheltered among the Indians becoming known as Black Seminoles. Historical facts I've never heard before that I found fascinating.

The modern day story centers around the third Carrington brother and food truck owner Adam. He's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders when he encounters feisty restaurant server Olivia. He doesn't know what's hit him at their first meeting and I love that she's able to throw him off guard like that. Olivia is trying to become a chef and is willing to start anywhere, even on a food truck, to be able to share her own culinary creations. The chemistry between these two is hot enough to really heat things up, in the kitchen and out of it!

Both historical and modern day stories are so compelling each could have been a stand alone and been completely breathtaking, but together the impact was multiplied exponentially and made for one epic page turner. One of my favorite lines,
"You must forgive...or all of your tomorrows will be as all of your yesterdays." There's so much truth in this!

Sarah Monzon does a masterful job of blending the past and present, touching the heart with expressions of love and tenderness. Freedom's Kiss is on my favorite list for 2018 with it's stunning setting, appealing characters and love conquers all tug of the heartstrings. Take a bow Sarah Monzon, you deserve a standing ovation!
Loved this dual timeline story! It was a story of faith, redemption, trust, restoration, family, and a couple of sweet romances thrown in for good measure. I always look forward to book by this author and I was not disappointed!
I loves the book. The part about the natives and blacks in Florida got me so emotional. It is hard to think about all that they had to go through. She did an awesome job of time hopping back in forth. The part about Winnie not being able to carry another child full term because of malnutrition really got to me. I love the two stories and how the past and present day tie in together. It is definitely a page turner. I had a hard time puttng it down. So if historical fiction is your thing, this book is for you!
Great time slip. The historical section was interesting and heart wrenching. I learned a lot about a part of history I knew very little about. The contemporary was witty and sweet and made me chuckle on numerous occasions. Also, her descriptions of food made me super hungry. Be warned.

I loved the characters and how spunky Olivia is. It was also great to hear from Trent and Summer. If you enjoy romantic time slips, and want a book to make you laugh and cry, you'll enjoy this gem by Sarah Monzon.

It is a blessing to find one who can be this for us, but the most precious treasure is to find the One whose omnipresence and faithful love sees us through all of life's torments and brings us to safe shores.
